with Karissa Bryant

Saturday June 8
12:30 - 3:30

Want to learn how to teach yoga to children? This 3-hour workshop will give you the basic skills and confidence to teach yoga to pre-k through elementary school students. Whether you are a teacher who wants to add yoga to your classroom curriculum, a yoga teacher who wants to offer classes to kids, or a parent who wants to practice with your own children, this workshop will get you rolling. We’ll start with what you need to know about teaching yoga to kids, how it differs from adult classes and move into fun games and activities that are successful with different ages. We’ll explore how to theme and design a class, what to do in difficult moments, and how to keep students engaged in the class. We’ll finish with a mock Kids Yoga Class where participants can take turns leading activities to one another, role-play “kid behavior” and receive peer feedback.

Two Ways to Play:
1 Day Camp
Saturday,
July 27 from 1 - 4 PM
AND
3 Day Camp
Monday thru Wednesday
August 12 - 15 from 2:00 - 3:30 PM

Kids Yoga Camp is a fun extension of Kids Yoga where students are encouraged to get to know themselves better through their body, voice, mind, and spirit.
Our curriculum focuses on yoga poses, physical movement and games that get kids moving, breathing and using their muscles, singing songs, and a chance to be in nature (a walk to Hylebos Park, weather dependent). Students are encouraged to use their creativity and imagination as they invent new yoga poses with partners, create art projects, and collaborate on imaginative play. We also take quiet time to connect to ourselves and get to know one another through focused activities, breathing, and reflective time. Yoga Camp provides a safe and structured environment where students are free to express hidden aspects of themselves and also to embrace others’ spirits.
Two opportunities to join Kids Yoga Camp this summer at Three Trees!
Please pack a snack and water bottle!

Yoga for Emotional Well Being
Saturday, September 28
from 1:00 - 4:30PM

Yoga practices offer a powerful somatic approach to reducing anxiety, depression and traumatic stress. While yoga practitioners have long understood that their practice makes them feel better emotionally, the mental health research community is also beginning to demonstrate that yoga can be part of an effective integrative strategy.
A Boston University study showed that yoga practice raised levels of GABA, the chief inhibitory neurotransmitter. Increased levels of GABA correspond with decreased anxiety and positive mental health. Not only can yoga help heal emotional issues, it can also help people move beyond their diagnosis towards finding greater freedom and flourishing in their lives.

In this workshop, Kristine Kaoverii Weber, the founder of Subtle Yoga and the director of the Subtle Yoga for Behavioral Health Professionals Training program, will discuss the mechanisms through which yoga practice can help create mental/emotional balance. She will present compelling research on yoga for emotional well being which is helping to form an evidence base for the practices and making medical professionals eager to explore yoga’s benefits.  You will learn some simple sequences which can help most people find better emotional balance and also learn how to develop practices to support your own mental health and flourishing.

Yin & Yoga Nidra
with Janice Sack-Ory

4th Friday of Every Month
from 6:00 - 7:15PM

DROP IN
No class November 28 or
December 24

This practice begins with yin yoga; a simple, quiet practice that explores the connective tissue and joints of the body. The major differences between a yin and a traditional yoga practice are that yin postures are passive and done with the muscles relaxed. The poses are held on the floor, for a length of time. The regular practice of Yin yoga frees areas of chronic tightness primarily in the hips, legs, and lower back. The yin aspect of yoga, therefore, is vital for a balanced approach to our physical and mental sense of well being. The practice is quiet and passive; it has a quality of stillness. Learning to be still and to enjoy that stillness, helps us to find calm amid the chaos of our daily lives.

Then you are invited to snuggle in with blankets, bolsters and an eye pillow and listen to a guided meditation that systematically relaxes and releases each layer of the body and mind.  Yoga Nidra leads you gently to a place of quiet with in and with out and offers an opportunity for both insight and inquiry.  It is so nourishing and restful that it is considered to be equal to over 4 hours of sleep. Come and experience this deceptively simple meditation practice.
