Discover Yourself As You Dive Deep Into Yoga
Participants will learn the fundamentals of a comprehensive Hatha yoga practice including alignment-based asana; pranayama; meditation; anatomy and physiology specific to yoga; a study of the Chakras; Ayurveda (the sister science of yoga); and yogic philosophy as described in the Yoga Sutras of Pantanjali.
Emphasis will also be placed on the techniques of teaching, including use of voice and body language; learning to observe bodies, modify poses and sequence classes with ample time allotted to “practice teaching” throughout the program. Even if teaching is not the ultimate goal, learning to articulate the principles just studied is a powerful learning tool.
Participants will also explore the business side of teaching yoga so that those interested will emerge confident and ready to start teaching after graduation. A growing body of research shows yoga to be an effective discipline that health care professionals are incorporating into their patient care and education. Mental health counselors, physical therapists, massage therapists, life coaches and more have found that the training they received from this program enhanced the care they provided to their patients and clients. Hear more in their words.
The 8 week ends of training culminates in a powerful 3 day retreat where participants have an opportunity to advance their teaching skills, practice in depth and have one-on-one time with their mentor. Past trainees have found this to be a highlight of their experience and a welcome opportunity to spend time contemplating their future in yoga as well as celebrating all that they have achieved with their new found community.
Three Trees Yoga is recognized by the Yoga Alliance as a RYS (Registered Yoga School) and graduates will be eligible to receive their RYT 200 Hour certification upon completion of the program. Graduates will be well-trained professionals ready to teach a variety of yoga classes with confidence and skill. Although employment is not guaranteed, a strong effort will be made to guide graduates towards appropriate teaching opportunities if desired.
Three Trees Teacher Training has attracted students from Aberdeen, Olympia, Seattle, Bremerton, Gig Harbor, Sequim, Port Angeles, Tacoma, Joint Lewis McChord, Auburn, Roy, Lake Tapps, Puyallup, Renton, Kingston and our own Federal Way.
Three Trees Yoga participates in MYCAA – a program that pays for spouses of active military duty to complete the Three Trees training.
